Who’s invited to this FREE event?  Artists and Makers (artisan producer or manufacturer) that want to build or expand a successful and sustainable business in or near Oakland.  There are a couple of concurrent workshops specifically for artists.  Come for some or all of the day’s free events.  Drop-ins welcome!

Sustainable Business Practices, Business Model Generation and Financial Forecasting
In this interactive workshop, you will learn about sustainable business models for creating, delivering and receiving value as a local maker or small manufacturer. We will take you through a hands-on process to clarify your business model and discuss how to translate your business model into a basic financial forecast.

Real Estate for Makers: Finding and Keeping Your Workspaces
What does it take to lease a space for your Maker business? Panelists will present information about where your business can locate based on existing City zoning and permitting requirements and ; info about tenant leasing requirements and learn more about anticipating infrastructure and utilities needs for your maker activities.  We’ll also discuss opportunities to increase the number of creative enterprises spaces and hear perspectives from visionary developers seeking to build more affordable maker spaces
